Situated amidst the natural beauty of Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve – a 4,100-acre San Diego County landmark – The Grand Del Mar is sensitive to the importance of respecting our environment. As our new resort evolves, we continue to implement a variety of green efforts:
- The resort utilizes an organic fertilization program for landscaping and the golf course.
- We make our own mulch using the resort’s recycled green waste.
- In order to limit the possibility of downstream contamination, we have a three-acre lake that contains all of the resort’s water runoff.
- Preserving the natural environment of the surrounding coastal canyon, we maintain wetland and native re-vegetation areas.
- We are finalizing a resort-wide recycling program in cohesion with the Clubhouse’s current procedures.
- The resort employs a multi-jet dry cleaning system with Tonsil Powder Filtration as an aid for Hydrocarbon and Green Earth dry cleaning solvents. This chemical-free method is a natural, non-hazardous alternative to the more common perchloroethylene dry cleaning operations.
- The resort was built per Title 24 using the most energy efficient lighting available.
